Dear Rider:
Welcome to Yorktown Stables! We are excited to have you in our program, and look forward to a long, successful relationship with you or your child.
As our lesson program is expanding, we would like to take the opportunity to clarify a few procedures that must be adhered to:
• All scheduling must be done on the office phone, not with a trainer.
• All riders must check in with the instructor & initial lesson package before each lesson.
• One day’s notice must be given to the office when cancelling lessons; you will be charged if you do not cancel by 5 p.m. the day preceding the lesson
• There are two types of program riders: 1) those who have a fixed lesson time(s) each week, and 2) those who book each lesson individually. For those who have a fixed lesson time, we will assume the lesson is scheduled as planned unless a cancellation is confirmed to the office manager. For those who book lessons individually, you will not be scheduled for a lesson unless you specifically book in the office; do not as- sume you have a scheduled time unless you confirm this with the office.
• Packages must be prepaid. Boarders will be billed at the month’s end.
• ALL STUDENTS ARE TO BE ASKED TO ARRIVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR LESSON TIME. Students are advised that the lesson BEGINS IN THE RING AT THEIR LESSON TIME and will finish on schedule, regardless of when they arrive.
To familiarize you with our expectations of our students, we offer to you a comprehensive step by step checklist of each rider’s accomplishments. Our lessons are divided by level, and as each rider checks off all the requirements of one level, he or she progresses to the next. This allows realistic timelines and goal setting for each individual student, who can progress at whatever speed he or she is comfortable. We place no pressure on our riders to progress quickly; however, we feel it is important for each rider to know what is expected at each level, and how far each rider can go in the sport if he or she is motivated to do so.
Furthermore, it is our hope to produce capable competent horsemen, who are knowledgeable both on and off horseback.
We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
